Defining a Gateway's General Information

Top  Previous  Next

On the General property sheet of the gateway's Properties dialog box, you define the gateway's name information, gateway service settings, and cover page options.

Defining a Gateway's Name Information

On the General tab of the gateway's Properties dialog box, define the gateway name information:

Name - This name identifies the FACSys gateway and must be unique among all gateways defined in your FACSys network. For some gateway applications, this name must correspond to a name defined in the e-mail application configuration.
Display Name - Enter a display name for the gateway.  This name is for display within the FACSys Administrator program only.

Defining a Gateway's Service Options

On the General tab in the gateway's Properties dialog box, define the gateway service options:

Enable this gateway for service - Select this option to enable the gateway and place it on-line.
Process outgoing messages every # minutes - Select this option to enable the gateway for outbound transmission and specify the polling interval that tells the FACSys gateway service how often to process out-going mail.
NOTE:While testing your fax gateway, it is a good idea to lower the polling rate to 1 minute until your gateway appears to be operating correctly. Use the Windows Event Viewer application to review any problems the fax gateway may encounter and make adjustments accordingly.
Allow messages to be received by this gateway - Select this option to enable the gateway for inbound transmission. When enabled, FACSys will forward inbound fax messages to users' e-mail Inbox folders, as per the instructions in the users' FACSys profiles. Only select this option if it is appropriate to the gateway type. For example, do not select this option when configuring a gateway service for an HP Network ScanJet scanner.
