Install and Configure the Fax Hardware
If you are sending and receiving faxes over a local telephone line via a fax board or modem, you must install and configure the fax device on the fax server before you install the FACSys software.
On the fax server computer.
Install the Fax Server Software
Install the FACSys server software onto the Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 computer that will operate as your fax server. There is no configuration required during this phase of the installation, however you will need your FACSys Server DAT file (containing the Serial Number) to complete this section. As a result of following the instructions in the installation program, all system services, drivers, and firmware files are copied to a designated directory on the fax server computer.
Run the FACSys setup program on the FACSys CD or download.
Install the FACSys Administrator Program
During the fax server software installation, you can also optionally install the FACSys Administrator program. You must install the FACSys Administrator on at least one workstation on your network. We recommend this be on the Server.
Run the FACSys setup program on the FACSys CD or download.
Associate an Account to the FACSys Fax Server Service
After the installation of the fax server software, you must configure the FACSys Fax Server service to logon to Windows using an account that has local administrative rights and privileges and explicit access to the network resources used by FACSys (e.g. mail gateway post offices, network printer queues…). When the FACSys Fax Server service starts, the service will assume the identity of this user account to access the network resources.
Run the Windows 'Services' Control Panel applet.
Associate an Account to the FACSys Fax Device Manager Service
If users will be attaching document files to their outbound faxes and fax rendering will be performed at the fax server, you must also associate the FACSys Fax Device Manager service with a Windows account that has local administrative rights and privileges.
Run the Windows 'Services' Control Panel applet.
Install the FACSys Licenses
Run the FACSys Administrator program, connect to the fax server, and install your FACSys Licenses. For Client and Channel model licenses you will not be able to configure the FACSys server until you install the Client or Channel DAT file.
Use the FACSys Administrator Program. Login as ADMIN with PASSWORD = password
Configure the Fax Device
If you are sending and receiving faxes via a fax device, you must configure the fax device from within the FACSys Administrator.
Use the FACSys Administrator Program.
Configure the Fax Server Properties
Define the fax server properties, including the server's local dialing information, send and receive options, printing options, default user permissions, and fax server alerts.
Use the FACSys Administrator Program.
Change the Password Assigned to the "Admin" User Account
FACSys is shipped with a default "FACSys administrator" account that provides access to the FACSys Administrator and FACSys Desktop programs. The default account user name and password are 'ADMIN' and 'password', respectively. You should change this default password immediately.
Use the FACSys Administrator Program.
Create FACSys User Accounts
To gain access to the FACSys Administrator program and the FACSys Desktop client program, and to have a fax processed by a FACSys fax server, all users must have an enabled FACSys user profile on the fax server.
Use the FACSys Administrator Program.
Configure FACSys Document Rendering Options
FACSys provides several methods by which users can fax existing documents or files. If users will be attaching document files to their outbound faxes, you must configure the fax server's rendering options.
Use the FACSys Administrator Program.
Optionally Create FACSys Mail Gateways
Defining gateways in your FACSys fax network gives FACSys users the ability to send and receive faxes using an electronic mail application or gateway service.
Use the FACSys Administrator Program.
Optionally Configure Outbound Fax Message Routing and Dialing Rules
By defining connection objects, FACSys administrators can instruct a fax server to route outbound messages to a particular external service provider or to an ALTERNATE FACSys fax server depending on dial strings, message properties, and relative connection costs.
Use the FACSys Administrator Program.
Optionally Configure Automatic Inbound Fax Message Routing
FACSys can be configured to route received faxes via ANI, DID, DNIS, DTMF, CSID, line routing, and auto-printing methods.
Use the FACSys Administrator Program.
Install the FACSys Desktop Program
The FACSys Desktop is the application from which FACSys users manage and monitor their fax mailboxes. Using the FACSys Desktop, users customize their personal fax environment, schedule files for faxing, manage the faxes they have sent and received, and manage FACSys phonebooks and cover pages. It is recommended to install the FACSys Desktop Client on the FACSys server for the purposes of testing and troubleshooting.
Run the FACSys Desktop setup program on the FACSys CD or download.
Optionally Create Shared Fax Cover Pages
The FACSys Cover Page Editor is installed with the FACSys Desktop client software. (To create cover pages at the fax server or at the administrator's workstation, you must install the FACSys Desktop client software on the server or workstation.) Create shared cover pages to be accessible to all FACSys users.

Run the Mail Printer setup program on the FACSys CD or download.
