Connections give FACSys administrators the ability to route fax messages to a particular service provider depending on dial strings, fax server load, message properties, or connection costs. Connections introduce an entirely new way for administrators to manage their fax server resources and control an organization's fax messaging costs.
The FACSys connection object you create can represent one of the following:
| • | a connection to another FACSys fax server |
| • | a connection to an external service provider |
NOTES:
| 1. | For detailed configuration instructions on creating a fax server connection to an external service provider, review the Technical Support Bulletins posted on the FACSys Web site (http://www.facsys.com). |
| 2. | Before you create a new connection to an external provider, you must have established an account with the service provider. |
| 3. | If your network is protected by a firewall, you must make sure that the firewall will allow connections to the remote fax server or service provider host(s). |

To create a new connection, right click on the Connections folder and choose the New Connection command.
In the New Connection dialog box, select the connection type from the drop-down list. To create a connection to a fax server, choose the "FACSys Server-Server Routing" option. In the New Connection Properties window, define the connection and click the OK button.
FACSys Server to Server Routing

| • | You can use this feature with Client to Client license models, Channel to Channel license models, but not with Client to Channel or Channel to Client. |
| • | FACSys LITE and FACSys SBS do not support FACSys Server to Server Routing |
