Defining a Device's General Properties

Top  Previous  Next

To define the properties for a fax device, select the device listed in the Devices folder and click the Properties toolbar button bm4. The device Properties dialog box is opened.

To define or modify the general properties of the device, click the General tab in the device Properties dialog box.

The Device Name and CSI you define here will display in the Devices folder. A board's CSI (call subscriber ID or customer subscriber identification) usually represents the fax number that the board will be servicing.

Enabling the Device

To enable the device, check the 'Device is online and enabled' option on the General tab of the device Properties dialog box. An on-line device can send faxes, receive faxes or do both. If you do not enable the device, it will not receive or send faxes.

NOTES:

If you set the option 'answer the line after xx rings' to 0, the device will not receive incoming faxes.
No outgoing calls can be placed on a DID trunk. If you are configuring the device for DID routing, you should disable the option 'Allow outgoing faxes on this device'.
