Configuring Gateway Services

Top  Previous  Next

Defining gateways in your FACSys fax network gives FACSys users the ability to send and receive faxes using an electronic mail application or gateway service. FACSys supports gateway services for electronic mail systems and network scanners  As an example, after configuring an electronic mail gateway, FACSys users can compose fax messages in their mail message window and receive fax messages in their mail application Inbox.

Gateway Licenses

As of FACSys 4.9 Gateway Licenses are required as follows:

1/ Each FACSys server will have an active SMTP/POP3 Gateway.

2/ FACSys LITE will not support any additional mail Gateway.

3/ FACSys SBS will come with the FACSys SMTP Connector but will not support any other mail gateway (no Additional licenses are required for the FACSys SMTP Connector).

4/ FACSys Client Model will come with one of (customer choice):

FACSys SMTP Connector (allows any SMTP server to send to FACSys),

       or

       Additional Gateways may be purchased

5/ FACSys Channel Model will come with one of (customer choice):

FACSys SMTP Connector (allows any SMTP server to send to FACSys),

       or

       Additional Gateways may be purchased

If you attempt to save a Gateway configuration without the appropriate license in place the following error will occur:

NOTE:        To prevent unauthorized users from sending fax messages from a gateway application, FACSys can authenticate every outbound fax message and verify that the message has been sent by a valid FACSys user. To send or receive fax messages via a FACSys gateway, the gateway user must have a FACSys user profile defined on the fax server handling the fax message. You can instruct FACSys to create user profiles automatically by enabling the 'auto-create' option in a gateway's property sheet. For information on the effects of enabling this option, click .

FACSys users are given a wide range of applications from which they can send and receive fax messages. FACSys provides support for any electronic mail system that uses SMTP as of 4.91 well as the gateway services listed below.
