Groups - Creating FACSys User Groups

Top  Previous  Next

FACSys user groups consist of one or more FACSys users on the current fax server. Note the following regarding groups:

There is no limit to the number of users that can be defined for a FACSys group.
A user may be a member of any number of groups.
When a user is assigned membership to a group, the user's FACSys account permissions and restrictions are combined with the permissions and restrictions assigned to the group. As a result, all selected/enabled permissions and restrictions for both the user's individual account and for all groups in which the user is a member become the user's effective rights.

To add a new user group, select the File|New Other|User Group command. The User Profiles folder for the active fax server is selected, and the New User Group dialog box is opened.

Defining the Group Name and Group Members

On the General tab of the New User Group dialog box, enter a name to identify the group.

To manage group membership, click the Modify button.

To quickly find a name in the FACSys user database, begin typing the name in the field provided. FACSys will jump to the first user name that matches the characters you type.
To add a name to the Group Members list, double-click on the user name. You can also highlight one or more user names and click the >> button.
To remove a name from the Group Members list, double-click on the user name. You can also highlight one or more user names and click the << button.

Defining Group Permissions

To define permissions and restrictions to be applied to the FACSys group members, click the Permissions tab. The options listed are identical to the permissions and restrictions available in a FACSys user profile.

Note that a user's effective rights are all of the selected permissions and restrictions in both the user's FACSys profile and the group(s) to which the user belongs. For information on the permissions and restrictions

Defining Inbound Routing Options for the Group

Inbound faxes can be routed to FACSys user groups using the assignment of DID/DTMF/DNIS routing digits. To configure FACSys for the routing of inbound faxes to a user group, enable the inbound routing option on the Routing tab. In the Routing field, enter the routing digits to be used to identify the user group.
