Routing Faxes and Confirmations to a Printer

Top  Previous  Next

To edit an existing FACSys user account, double-click on the user account listed in the User Profiles folder.

To instruct FACSys to route a user's inbound faxes to a network printer, display the user's Profile Properties dialog box and click the Routing tab. Define the Printer Information fields.

If you define these Printer Information options, FACSys will route all of the user's inbound faxes to the network printer in addition to listing the faxes in the user's FACSys Desktop Inbox folder.

NOTE:Don't forget to select the "Enable inbound routing services" option on the General tab.

Enabling the 'Print received faxes favoring quality for speed' option will print the faxes at a higher quality but may increase network printing traffic.

When defining the network Printer, use the universal naming convention format in defining the path. For example, a specific printer attached to the "Sales" server may be indicated by \\sales\printer3.

NOTES:

The Windows account associated with the FACSys Server service must have appropriate rights to print to the network print queue you define.
If the printer is connected to a domain, the Windows account associated with the FACSys Server service must be defined as a domain user.
If you have defined a Novell NetWare print queue, you must have Gateway Services for NetWare configured on the Windows NT fax server. You must also create a NetWare user account that has the SAME user name and password as the Windows NT account associated with the FACSys Server service. The NetWare user account you create must also be a queue user of the print queue you define (e.g., the user account must be given the right to print to the queue).
If the print queue resides on an NT system, the queue must be shared.

Routing Print Confirmations to a User's Printer

To print a user's confirmations at the printer you define in the user's profile (rather than at the fax server's default printer), do the following:

1.Enable print confirmations for the user and define the user's network printer (on the user profile Routing tab)
2.In the fax server's Properties dialog box on the Printer tab, make sure the option 'Always print confirmation to this server's default printer' is not selected.

NOTES:

Print confirmations can be printed only on a LaserJet III or higher/later printer.
To print confirmations for all faxes sent by the server, enable the print confirmation option in the Server Properties dialog box on the Printer tab.  Note that when the server option 'Print a confirmation for each fax sent by this server' is enabled, FACSys will print confirmations for all users, regardless of the "print fax confirmation" setting defined in the User Profiles.
