Installing and Configuring the Fax Hardware

Top  Previous  Next
One of the most significant features starting with FACSys 4.7 and newer product release is support for the native fax hardware drivers supplied by device manufacturers such as Intel/Dialogic, Eicon and Brooktrout.
FACSys incorporates a FACSys Device Service Provider Interface (DSPI) component that communicates directly with the manufacturer supplied device drivers. Earlier versions of FACSys relied on proprietary device drivers for server to hardware communication. The DSPI interface greatly simplifies the installation and configuration of fax devices for use with FACSys, and provides a greater support mechanism for troubleshooting fax issues.

NOTES:

(for updates only) This section does not apply to you if you want to continue to use the proprietary device drivers included with FACSys 4.6 and earlier.
If you are sending and receiving faxes via a fax board or modem, you should first install the fax device and device software on the fax server. After verifying that the device is configured properly, then install the FACSys fax software.
For details on a board's installation and settings, refer to your board manufacturer's manual.
Eicon device drivers are not shipped with FACSys but are available from from emFAST Inc. While the license for the Eicon boards is free, emFAST requires your board serial number to create the activation key.
