FACSys Rendering Services

Top  Previous  Next

Before the FACSys fax server transmits an outbound fax message, FACSys must convert the message into fax format. The process of preparing a message and any file attachments for faxing is referred to as "rendering."

Depending on the way in which you configure FACSys, file attachment rendering may occur at the client workstation or at the fax server. Furthermore, attachment rendering may be performed using the print services of the attachment's native application or the optional Outside In™ Viewer technology.

Note On Fonts:

When preparing a fax message, FACSys will render cover page text and document attachments using the exact or closest True-Type font available. If users require specific fonts, then you must verify that the fonts are installed on the sending fax server.

FACSys has fully automated the installation and configuration of the rendering services by doing the following:

The FACSys fax server installation program creates and configures a server-based FACSys Document Printer used for rendering file attachments on the server. The printer is configured automatically to output to the FXS: or FACSYS: port using a custom FACSys print driver.
The FACSys Desktop client installation program creates and configures a local FACSys Fax Printer used for "printing to fax" and for rendering file attachments on the workstation. The printer is configured automatically to output to the FXC: or FAXPRINT: port using a custom FACSys print driver.

In addition, from the FACSys Administrator program's server properties Rendering tab, you can easily enable or disable application rendering simply by clicking on the desired options. Any changes to the dialog are made in real-time without having to stop or re-start any services.  A checked or selected option causes documents of that type to be rendered using the print services of the native application on the server.

Unselected document types may be rendered using the Optional Outside In™ technology.
