When you run the FACSys server installation program, you are given the option of installing the fax server software and/or the FACSys Administrator program.
| • | The FACSys fax server installation program copies all necessary FACSys program and system files onto the server computer. |
| • | The FACSys Administrator program is a remote administration program that permits you to manage all fax servers across your enterprise network. You can install the FACSys Administrator program on any number of workstations on your network. |
Before you install the FACSys software, note the following:
| 1. | If you are sending and receiving faxes via a fax board or modem, you should first install the fax device and device software on the fax server. After verifying that the device is configured properly, then install the FACSys fax software. |
| 2. | To install the fax server software, you must be a system administrator (or equivalent) of the Windows Server or Windows Workstation. |
| 3. | To install the FACSys Administrator program onto a Windows workstation, you must have administrative rights on the local workstation. |
| 4. | Before you run the FACSys server installation program, you should exit all Windows programs. Also verify that there are no background processes running (e.g., virus detection programs). |
| 5. | For information on any up-to-date modifications and additions, review the FACSys Release Notes in the \RELNOTES folder on the FACSys Fax Messaging Gateway product CD or download. Also, review the Technical Support Bulletins posted on the FACSys Web site. |
If you are Updating your FACSys software, note the following:
| 1. | If you are Updating your version of FACSys, refer to the notes regarding this procedure. |
| 2. | Before Updating, you should always backup all system files and your x:\FACSys root folder. |
| 3. | Before Updating, it may be helpful if you write down the device properties you defined for the FACSys fax server. |
| 4. | Before Updating the FACSys software, close all FACSys services on the fax server. If the FACSys Fax Device Manager does not stop, you must wait until your fax device is no longer sending or receiving. When the device is idle, stop the FACSys Fax Device Manager service. |
| 5. | When Updating from a previous version of FACSys, you must install version 4.91 in the same directories. |
To install the FACSys fax server software and/or the FACSys Administrator program:
NOTE:
Visit the FACSys Web site at www.facsys.com to learn about file updates and/or hot fixes.
| 1. | From the FACSys Fax Messaging Gateway installation CD-ROM or Download build or a network directory, run the SETUP.EXE program in the \Server sub-directory. |
The installation program launches and displays the Welcome dialog box. Follow the prompts throughout the installation program.
| 2. | Select the components you want to install: Fax Server Programs and/or Administrative Tools. |
| · | Server Programs - Choose this option to install the fax server software and create the FACSys Document Printer on the Windows server. |
| · | Administrative Tools - Choose this option to install the FACSys Administrator program files. |
| 3. | Select the drive and directory into which you want to install the FACSys software. |
The default drive and directory path is: C:\FACSYS
The installation program will create multiple levels of directories and sub-directories that do not already exist. All program and system files are copied into the designated path.
| 4. | When you are prompted, restart your computer. |
