Creating FACSys User Profiles Automatically
Previous  Top  Next

Before processing an outbound fax, FACSys authenticates the message by verifying that it has been sent by a FACSys user. To ensure that all gateway application users have a FACSys user profile on the fax server handling their outbound fax messages, you can enable an 'auto-create' option in the gateway's properties. This option is labeled "Automatically create fax user accounts" located on the General tab in the Gateway Properties dialog box.

When the 'auto-create' option is enabled and a sender of a fax message does not have a FACSys user profile on the fax server handling the outbound transmission, FACSys will create a profile with the following properties:
·The Display Name is determined from the user's mail account.
·The Alias is determined from the user's mail account.
·The mail routing option on the FACSys profile is enabled.
·The Mail Address is determined from the user's mail account.
·The gateway service type is defined.
·The image attachment format is set to the default format defined for the fax server.

NOTES:

·All new account activity is posted to the Windows Event Log at the fax server.
·When a FACSys user profile is created automatically, the Password field is not defined (i.e., it is left empty). For security purposes, you should define a password for the user account immediately after the account is created.
·For information on defining e-mail gateways, see Configuring Gateway Services.
·With the EXCEPTION of the Channel License Model which allows unlimited users, a profile will only be created if there sufficient un-assigned user licenses remaining.
