Optionally Creating a FACSys Printer
Previous Top Next |
| · | Every printer you create must have a unique name.
| · | On both the fax server and desktop client, you must create a local printer. Do not select the network printer options or make the printer a shared printer.
| · | The printer "manufacturer" or driver you select depends on the type of output you want the printer to create.
| · | If you want the printer to print using the FACSys fax driver (and output to a pre-compressed TIF format), select the "emFAST" manufacturer and "FACSys Fax Printer."
| · | If you want the printer to print using a Hewlett Packard Postscript driver, select the HP (Hewlett Packard) manufacturer and the LaserJet 4/4M Plus printer. This print driver is required because FACSys uses its default font set when generating PCL or Postscript files. Using this printer driver REQUIRES the optional add-on HPCL Renderer (purchased separately).
| · | When prompted, configure the printer to print to the FXC: port (on a client) or the FXS: port (on a server). This port should display in your list of Available Ports.
| · | It is strongly recommended that you configure the installed printer to print at 300 DPI rather than 600 DPI, which is the default resolution of many print drivers in the HP LaserJet series.
| · | Although not required, it is recommended that the Spool data format be set to RAW and that bi-directional support for this printer be disabled. Both of these values can be set by choosing the Spool Settings button in the Printer Properties Details property sheet.
