Facsys Minimum Requirements

The Facsys Fax Messaging Gateway is actually made up of 3 distinct "parts":

1) The Facsys Services
2) The Facsys Administrator Program
3) The Facsys Desktop Client

Each of these three components has a different set of minimum requirements.

NOTES:

For performance considerations by the fax device, it is recommended that internal bus-based fax boards (or Software solutions) be used.
Use of Class 1-2 serial modems, and multi-port serial devices are not supported.

A list of currently supported Fax Devices is located here.

The Facsys Services

The minimum requirements of the Facsys Services are:

Pentium IV, 1.5 GHz or better
Windows 2000 or 2003 Server
SQL 2000, MSDE, or SQL 2005 (Express, Workgroup, Standard, or Enterprise) - SQL 2005 Express is preferred for Standalone systems rather than MSDE.
512 MB RAM if using MSDE, 2GB for SQL 2005
20 GB hard disk space for system files. You must also consider the disk space required for maintaining your system's fax messages. This will depend entirely on the size of the faxes and the amount of time the fax files will reside on the fax server.
At least one supported fax board or a connection to an external service provider. For sending and receiving fax traffic over a local telephone line (PSTN), at least one supported fax board needs to be configured properly at the fax server. Currently, Facsys supports the following board manufacturers and types: Brooktrout TR1034 Series ,TR114 Series, TruFax 200, Intel (formerly Intel/Dialogic and formerly GammaLink), and Eicon.
Facsys Enterprise also Supports T38 Fax Over IP and Brooktrout TR140 boardless servers.

The Facsys Administrator program

Since the Facsys Administrator can be run from any machine (not just from the one that the Services are installed on), it has a different set of minimum requirements.

The minimum requirements of the Facsys Administrator are:

Pentium III 500MHz or greater
Windows XP, 2000, 2003
128mb RAM
200mb Hard disk space
Network connectivity

The Facsys Desktop Client program

The minimum requirements of the Facsys Desktop Client are:

Pentium II
Windows XP, 2000, 2003
128mb RAM
10mb Hard disk space
Network connectivity

NOTES:
For performance purposes only, it is HIGHLY recommended that the Facsys fax server be a dedicated fax server; however, this is not a requirement of the software.
Facsys should NOT be installed on any Exchange Server, particularly if your company invokes server-side rendering of attachments.  This requires server CPU resources and memory which could negatively impact performance.
After installing the Facsys Server Software you can Login to the Facsys Administrator program with the default values

USERID = Admin   PASSWORD = password

This is not the same as the User that is associated with the Facsys Server Service, nor is it the Windows Administrator account, but rather the Facsys USER that administers the Facsys Server.
