Starting the Facsys Administrator Program

All Facsys users with administrative rights can access the Facsys Administrator program.

NOTE: There may be one or more Administrator users, all managing the same Facsys objects remotely.

After installing the Facsys Administrator software successfully on the workstation, a Facsys folder is created and the "Facsys Administrator" item is added to a system's Start | All Programs menu.

To open the Facsys Administrator program, select the Facsys Administrator command from Start | All Programs | Facsys | Facsys Services menu.

Logon Authentication

When the Facsys Administrator program is started, Facsys attempts to authenticate the logon using the Windows logon name and password.  (ie. If a user has logged onto Windows, and does not have Facsys Administrator permissions, they will then be asked for the password of the Facsys Administrator account).

Default Login = Admin;  Default Password = password

If the fax server cannot authenticate the logon, it will do one of the following depending on the setting of the fax server's authentication option "Only allow authenticated users to access this server:"

• If the authenticate option is not selected, Facsys will display the Enter Password window and give the user an opportunity to enter the password of the administrative Facsys account.

 

• If the authenticate option is selected, Facsys will not display any further prompts and not allow the user to open the Facsys Administrator program.

Defining Fax Server Logon Security

When a user requests access to the fax server, Facsys attempts to authenticate the user's logon using the alias name and password used to logon to Windows. To restrict access to the fax server to only those users that can be authenticated by their Windows logon information, enable the authentication option on the server Properties Logon tab.

• If this option is selected, users will not be given an opportunity to enter another password if Facsys cannot authenticate their logon. If authentication does not occur, the user will not be granted access to the fax server.

 

• If this option is not selected and Facsys cannot authenticate a user's logon, Facsys will display the Enter Password window, giving the user an opportunity to enter the password of their administrative Facsys account.
