Cover Page Editor Editing Commands

Top  Previous  Next

To help you manage the objects on your cover page, the FACSys Cover Page Editor provides the following editing commands on the Edit menu:

Cut

The Cut command and Command toolbar button are active only after you have selected an object on your cover page. Use the Cut command to remove the selected object from your cover page and place it into the Windows clipboard. After you have cut an object, you can paste it onto your cover page or into another application.

Copy

The Copy command and Command toolbar button are active only after you have selected an object on your cover page. Use the Copy command to copy selected text and graphics into the Windows clipboard. The original object is left unchanged. After you have copied an object, you can paste it onto your cover page or into another application.

Paste

After you have cut or copied an object, you can use the Paste command to paste the object onto your cover page. You may have cut or copied the information from the Cover Page Editor or another application (e.g., Paintbrush). If you are pasting a graphic, you should use black and white images for best results.

NOTE:For best results with pasted graphics, use black and white images having a maximum width of 1728 pixels.

This means "pure" black and white; not 256 gray scale graphics.

Paste From

To paste a graphic image contained in another file onto your cover page, use the Paste From command. When you choose the Paste From command from the Edit menu, the Cover Page Editor displays the Open dialog box from which you can browse drives and directories to locate a specific graphic file.

The file you choose must be in one of the graphic formats recognized by FACSys (DCX, PCX, TIF, BMP, MG3). When you select a file name and click the OK or Open button, the source file is pasted onto your cover page as a single graphic object.

NOTE:If the source file consists of more than one page, only the contents of the first page will be pasted onto your cover page.

To resize the pasted graphic, select the graphic object and drag the handles to a new location.

For instructions on moving objects.

Delete

To delete an object from your cover page, select the object and choose the Delete command from the Edit menu.

NOTE:Once you delete an object, you cannot undo your action.

Select All

To select all objects on your cover page, choose the Select All command from the Edit menu. This command is helpful in finding objects that may be placed behind other objects. Once all objects are selected, you might move or delete them. To remove the selection of all objects without taking an action, click on the background of the cover page.
