Defining New Message Options

Top  Previous  Next

To display the Options dialog box, choose the FACSys Desktop Tools|Options command.

On the Sending tab of the Options dialog box, define several default settings to be applied to your new fax messages.

When creating a new message - From each drop-down list, select the default you want to apply to your new fax messages. You can override these new message default settings each time you create a new fax.

The FACSys rendering engine includes many popular fonts. When preparing your fax message, FACSys will render your cover page text using the exact or closest True-Type font you select from the Font drop-down list.

Check names using these phonebooks - When you create a new fax message and enter a "free-form" name as the fax address, you can instruct FACSys to check the name against all FACSys phonebooks you list here.

The phonebooks are searched in the order listed until a matching name is found. The name you enter is searched against the First Name, Last Name, and Display Name fields of the FACSys phonebooks. When a matching name is found, the search on the current phonebook is completed and no subsequent phonebooks are searched.

To add a phonebook to the list, click the Add button. Select a FACSys phonebook and click OK. Use the Move Up/Move Down buttons to change the search order of the phonebooks.

To define advanced options for your new fax messages, click the Advanced Options button on the Sending tab:

Processing options - You can instruct FACSys to render your fax message file attachments at your local workstation or at the fax server. To render the attachments locally, select the 'Render document attachments on local workstation' option.

NOTE:If you are rendering remotely at the fax server, contact your FACSys Administrator for a list of supported file attachment types.

Delivery options - When you create faxes by printing from Windows, you can instruct FACSys to use your electronic mail transport. For example, when you select this option and you choose the Print command from your Windows application, FACSys will launch your email application and include the printed output file as an attachment in a new mail message. This is referred to throughout this document as "printing to email."

To use your default email account name and password logon, enable the 'Use default electronic mail profile' option. If you do not select this option, your email application logon prompt will display each time you print to email.

Refresh options - Enable the "refresh" option to update the contents of your Outbox automatically after you send a fax message.
