Before updating or modifying an existing text or graphic object on a cover page, the object must be selected. To select a single object, simply click on the object. When selected, several anchor points or handles appear on the marquee or dotted line that surrounds the object. After the object is selected, it can be changed, moved or resized. (ie if a text block is selected, it's font properties may be changed)

Selecting Multiple Objects

Similar changes may need to be made to more than one object. The fastest way to do this is to select all the objects and then apply the change (ie. multiple text blocks need to be changed from 10-point to 20-point. Select all of the text blocks, and then the font-size property can be changed to 20-point on the Text toolbar).

To select more than one object, use the Multiple Select tool. This can be found on the Command toolbar, or using the Tools | Select command.  When the Multiple Select tool is selected, the mouse-cursor displays as a 'pointing arrow'.

To select multiple objects:

  1. Choose the Multiple Select tool.
  2. Click on the Cover Page Editor application window and hold down the left mouse button.
  3. Drag the mouse to create a rectangular box around all of the objects to be selected.
  4. Release the mouse button.
When the mouse-button is released, all objects surrounded completely by the rectangular box will be selected. Note that the entire object needs to be surrounded to be included in the selection. After selecting all of the objects, apply the change.

NOTE: Selecting multiple objects can also be accomplished by holding down the <Shift> key and clicking on each object to be included.
