About Facsys Phonebooks

Facsys phonebooks eliminate the need to retype often-used fax destination names and numbers. Every phonebook consists of fax destination entries that can include individuals, companies and/or groups. When addressing a fax, simply select one or more fax destinations from the Facsys phonebooks.

Facsys supports two types of phonebooks:

  • System or shared phonebooks - These "system-wide" phonebooks are created and maintained by Facsys Desktop users that have the 'Manage Shared Directories' permission enabled in their Facsys user profile. Shared phonebooks are available to all users connected to the Facsys server on which the phonebook was created. There can be a maximum of 256 shared phonebooks defined on each Facsys fax server.

  • Personal phonebook - Facsys Desktop users maintain their own personal phonebook that consists of the names and fax numbers of the persons, companies and groups to whom they send faxes. Personal Facsys phonebook file(s) can be located on the local computer or anywhere on the network.

In addition to the phonebook types listed above, links to external ODBC databases can be created.  The external data source links defined become part of a personal Facsys resource store and appear at the bottom of the Facsys Desktop folder tree.
