Supporting File Attachments and Text Formatting

Rich Text Format

FACSys fax servers have the ability to render rich text formatted (RTF) documents natively. Implementation of RTF rendering permits you to fax elaborate documents or cover page messages with special formatting features beyond that of plain ASCII characters.

Full support of font typeface selection, paragraph formatting, and justification enables you to fax messages as seen on your display without having to invoke external programs or perform printing functions to render messages.

Supported File Attachment Formats

In addition to the rich text formatting of your fax documents and fax cover pages, you may include file attachments in your outbound fax messages. There is no limit to the number of attachments contained within each fax message you create.

At present, the FACSys rendering services support the following file attachment formats:

TIFF G3/G4MH
Postscript Level I and II
PCX
PCL5e 2/Truetype
Intel DCX
HPGL2
BMP (1,4,16,256, and 24-bit color)
ASCII text
RTF documents
Word for Windows (*.doc and *.html)
Excel Spreadsheets (.xls)
Wordpad (*.txt)
Write documents (*.wri)
Microsoft Powerpoint (*.ppt)
Adobe Adrobat (*.pdf)

FACSys Fax Messaging Gateway also provides support for the optional Outside In™ Viewer technology used for rendering over 250 document/file formats without requiring the native applications to be installed.

Please contact your FACSys Administrator for a list of file attachment types supported by your FACSys installation.

NOTES:
· emFAST Inc. is continually adding support for new attachment formats. For a current list of supported file attachment types, please visit our web site at www.facsys.com.
· If you attach an "unrecognized" file type to a fax message, the file attachment will be passed to the Outside In™ engine for rendering at the fax server providing the Outside In™ option is installed.
